We moved to Brooklyn about a year ago and have really come to love the area. We love Prospect Park and all of the local restaurants and shops on 7th Ave. We really miss our old Maryland neighborhood, but we found a pretty great place to live in Park Slope.
We bought a townhouse in Maryland that we sold when we moved. We decided to try selling the home ourselves but had an agent lined up just in case. We got really lucky and sold our house in one weekend, but what we realized, was that selling it ourselves was REALLY worth it. We saved a ton of money and it was not as hard as it seemed. I would advise giving it a try but making sure you have a really trustworthy title company so you know everything is being taken care of.
We do our best to live as green as we can in a city apartment. We always turn off lights and have been replacing traditional light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs as is necessary. We also are sure to recycle everything we can.
We're also making an effort to phase out traditional cleaning products for more natural products to try to cut down on toxic waste.
